Older people have strong relationships with family living in the same household and Family and extended family not living in the same household. The Family and extended family, including friends or neighborhood communities, who may be involved as informal caregivers. The relatives must be recognized for the great and often stressful work they perform since many extra care tasks can affect the Family and extended family and can become a daily burden. The Danish health service is at a relatively high level, where elderly citizens stay in their own homes with the necessary health care for as long as possible. To become a resident at a nursing home is only offered if the citizen needs a high level of effort around the clock and if the elderly citizen has several chronic illnesses at the same time. Despite the professional health care the family and extended family often become the closest contact person to the elderly citizen in the everyday need of care. The Family and extended family needs access to information about the many support and counseling options available to the older people.
